The Colonial Steamboat Company offers a custom model making service, and will consider all request. We will need to know the following:
- What it its, including figure scale, period, architectural style etc.
- The manufacturer of the figures you will use with the model, this is important due to the variation in actual figure size used by the various manufacturers, there is no such thing as a standard 15/20/25/28mm Figure. The actual size of the figure will effect the look of the model.
- Approximate size of the model (not scale) and how you will use it, i.e. ease of access, movement and storage. There are limits on the size of a given model, subject to the method of delivery, for example, if it has to be sent in post, it may have to be made in several parts. Oversea customers, please bar this in mind, parcels over 900mm overall dimensions (length, width and height combined) become very expansive to send. While surface mail is an option, I cannot accept any liability for lose, damage or delivery time if you insist on this method.
- Level of detail you require.
- Specific features you require.
- A sketch or drawing of the model, using, if possible square paper, (you can get this from all stationary shops with a 5mm square grid). If you use the 5mm squared grid paper, scale it so that one 5mm square equals 1cm on the model. Most projects should fit comfortably on the sheet. Any sketch or drawing doesn't have to be perfect, just enough to help us visualize what it is you want.
- Any other pictures, if the model is based on something real. However, we are unable to make copies of other peoples model designs, if you want something that is going to be the same as something you have seen in a picture, you need to contact the maker or designer of that model. If you want something similar or of a similar style, we may consider it. However we will not breach somebody else's design and copyrights.
TERMS
The enquiry/quotation form is not a contract, and dose not signify any agreement has been entered into nor dose it signify acceptance on the part of the Colonial Steamboat Company to undertake the commission, and we reserve the right to decline any commission.
The design rights are reserved and remain with Andrew D Birch trading as the Colonial Steamboat Company. Component parts used in the complete design may be subject to third party copyright.
We require a minuium of 6 weeks, however this is subject to work load, we many not be able to complete or accept a commission within that time frame. You should give as much time for completion as possible.
If we agree to take on the project, a Custom Order Form will be sent you detailing the design and terms of contract, i.e. delivery method, completion date.
You must SIGN and DATE and return one copy to us within 21 days of the date on the order form, with a deposit, normally 25% of the quoted price. You have 14 days in which you can cancel the order, from the date you sign the order form, in which case all funds, including the deposit will be refunded. After the 14 day period, it is non-refundable, unless the fault lies with me.
The deposit cover the costs in terms of time, work and materials incurred by us, and which cannot be easier recouped if you decide you don't want the model. It also deters time wasters.
The remaining payment will be due on completion of the project, an invoice with be sent to you. This will have to clear before the model is dispatched. Final payment must be received within 28 Days of the date of the final invoice. We reserve the right to enforce the contract. If you decide that you do not want to pay the final price, and then subsequently attempt to purchase the item at a lower price on eBay, we will seek to enforce the original contract.
Any attempt to re-negotiate the final price once the order is complete will be treated as a refusal to pay.
While we can accommodate minor changes in the design once work is in progress, significant changes may incur an additional fee, at the discretion of the Colonial Steamboat Company.
Ownership of the model remains with Andrew D. Birch trading as the Colonial Steamboat Company until payment is made in full and it a cleared.
The Design Rights to any design made by us, remain with Andrew D. Birch trading as the Colonial Steamboat Company. Additional third party design and copyrights may apply on component parts of any model. The design may not be copied or reproduced. |
